Chukka Boots

is now available from Stock!

Here is our first stock Chukka boot on the 42 last.  This is a last we have used off and on over the years in the shop (Franco’s) and it has always been a great fitting last……nice shape, classic toe, good instep volume – easy fit.  Details on RBCB10:

42 Last

Highly water-resistent ‘Cape Butt’ suede from Stead

Full calfskin lining (as usual)

Heavy sole work – we use our standard Rapid Construction, use a second layer of crepe that we stitch to the leather midsole then cement the crepe outsole and heel to this crepe second sole.  This makes for a very durable sole work and will help eliminate the one typical drawback to crepe soles – the seperation of the glued seam at the toe.  We love crepe, and wanted to use it, but I thought we needed to solve this ‘problem’.  We did.

So, introducing RBCB10:

Welcome to Spring!  Well, almost anyway.  Here is the first Spring Edition model coming on-line in around 6 weeks.  RBCB10 is our interpretation of a classic – a 2 eyelet chukka boot on a crepe sole.  We put our little spin on the production, however.  Instead of the typical thin crepe outsole, the Riderboot versions comes in at a solid 1/2″ sole – 1/4″ outsole + 1/8″ crepe secondary layer + 1/8″ full leather midsole.  Strong boot.  The real interesting detail here is that we do NOT attach the outsole directly to the welt/midsole…..we take the 1/8″ layer of crepe and stitch it on the Rapid Stitcher then glue the 1/4″ crepe outsole to the crepe midsole which makes for a much stronger bond.  This will eliminate the not-unusual seperating at the toe situation that many boots like this have occur.  As usual, built here with full calfskin linings and in virtually waterproof ‘Cape Butt’ suede (very tight nap) from Stead, the RBCB10 is on the 42 last and will be available in ‘Polo Brown’ and ‘Cola’.  Swatch colors should be available in the next day or two.

RBCB10 will retail for $550 and I am happy to take pre-orders….please send a mail to riderboot@comcast.net or give me a call at the shop (804-264-2994) for more info.

Next version of RBCB4……a nice Black ‘mini’ Scotch called ‘Inca’.  Storm welt, Sestriere outsoles….another great addition to the lineup!

We have also received our first delivery of RBCB5, which is our 3-eyelet chukka in Waxy Kudu……here available in color ‘Flint’, which is basically a Charcoal Brown.  Made on 95 last and built on our favorite outsole, Sestriere, this chukka is a great denim or khaki option.

RBCB6 will be available at Franco’s in Richmond and Capra & Cavelli in Austin for $595.

Finally getting my head around everything here…..been on the road, catching up, other obligations on a personal side, etc.  Coming for Fall ’09 we have here RBHB1, which has been shown a few times, and generated a good amount of interest so far.

This 4 eyelet boot features ‘Mohawk’ roughout uppers with Dark Brown calfskin on the heel counter.  Built on Sestriere outsoles we have included some handstitched details across seams on the upper as well as a padded collar.

Retail price will be $595.oo and will be available in NYC at Leffot, in Denver at Andrisen-Morton and in Richmond at Franco’s.  The first delivery of 32 pair is expected here in around 3 weeks.
